Rev. Dr. Ventra Asana, now retired, is an ordained clergywoman with over 20 years’ experience in two denominations: as an ordained Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, 4th Episcopal District with last charge at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Detroit and Deacon Clergy in the United Methodist Church, serving several parishes in ministries of community outreach and ecology.
Dr. Asana's ecological experience includes: eco-chaplaincy, eco-minister, ecotheologian, and urban environmentalist, currently working with Detroit Bird Alliance developing parks into bird and pollinator habitat. She has conducted ecoministry programs at various parishes in Michigan and Illinois.
As an educator Dr. Asana has taught as adjunct faculty at Ecumenical Theological Seminary (“Introduction to Theological Writing and Research”) and adjunct faculty at Henry Ford College (“College Writing and Research” and “Comparative Religion”) and conducted numerous workshops in spiritual formation and ecological awareness.
